The Everglades

January 2000. No Y2K Bug, and the mosquitoes and other bugs weren’t too bad, either. Just mangrove swamps, sandy beaches, the Ten Thousand Islands, egrets, herons, crocodiles, alligators, and enough different species of snakes to give you (or me, anyway) the willies, the heebie-jeebies, and the screaming abdabs all at the same time.
